As the rain falls in Southern Ontario, I'm reminded why I love baseball at the Rogers Centre so much. Yes, the concrete convertible might not be the prettiest thing to look at to some (not me!) and not possess real grass, but it does have a retractible roof. Jays fans get the best of both worlds. When it's beautiful out, we're outdoors. When it's crappy out like today, we still get to play baseball and remain dry, while not having to worry about rain delays. (Although I do remember getting rained on in '04 I believe when they couldn't get the Dome closed fast enough.)
But happily the game goes on tonight between the Boys in
Blue and the
Blue Jays.
I started thinking about the comments I made about A.H.H. yesterday (Alomar, Hudson, Hill) in regards to the impact they made in the infield. The below table shows a comparison of some of the guys' stats.

Unfortunately my sources didn't have Alomar's innings played with the Jays so I couldn't figure out his range factor. The first line of stats for Hill is for his time at 2nd, the second line is his career numbers, which include time at 3rd and short. All in all, I think this just proves we can all breathe a sigh of relief at 2nd base. Don't worry, I think I'll give the comparion charts a break for a while.

Dustin McGowan takes the bump to start the series against Brad Penny and the Dodgers. McGowan went 7 innings and gave up 2 earned runs in his start against the Dodgers in LA, but lost when Accardo blew his 2nd save of the season. That same night, Penny went 7.2 innings and gave up 1 earned run, but wasn't credited with the win.Enjoy the game and stay dry wherever you are.
I certainly will be trying to.
