Catch Up

So I was wrong on all accounts with my predictions yesterday. I kinda discounted Curtis Thigpen, who the Jays have called up. I guess I wasn't really thinking they'd carry 3 catchers, but I guess if Stairs and Phillips split time at 1st, then it's kinda like 2 catchers. John Thompson was moved to the 60-day DL to make room for Thigpen on the 40-man roster.

I saw Thigpen in Spring Training. He'd come in later in the game, and was neither great nor memorable for me. Much the same Phillips has been the last week or so. But I guess this is a good way to see what the kid's made of. Riccardi was quoted talking about moving Thigpen around in the infield, away from homeplate because he's so athletic. So I guess he could even play some games at 1st. Or, to piggyback on a theory on The Tao of Stieb, you could maybe move Glaus over to first (since he played an inning there in the All-Star game last year) so he doesn't have to tax his legs as much later in the game, and try Thigpen out at 3rd like they were going to in the minors. I highly doubt the Jays will do that at the major league level, but it is a thought. Anything's possible I guess.

However, it remains to be seen what will happen when Zaun rejoins the club this weekend out west. I guess my predictions could still come true in parts. I'm kinda excited to see.

Also, in one of my first posts, I couldn't remember the last name of the ex-Jays' pitcher who was covered in tattoos. Well, it's Justin Miller and he's appeared in 8 games for the Marlins this season with a 4.70 E.R.A. Still not sure if it was him or possibly Justin Speier who got the other's name tattooed on their behind for I think $1000.

Either way, still a funny story.

Enjoy the game tonight. I have baseball, so if it's as fast as Doc's last start I won't really get to see any of it.

Here's hoping I don't freeze on the diamond...
